If you haven't tried it yet, cleaning your hands with cooking oil is sooooooo much better than using ISO, takes away all the stickyness without drying the piss out of your skin - helps on the cutters too. many will say thats not a good idea, but from what I found about coating your hands with cooking oil while trimming, I'd say it would be worth a shot. I have heard too that a light application of cooking oil to the grate will keep it from gumming up too quickly. The key to making cleaning easy is to find a round tupperware container that the grate will fit in and just keep the ISO in there - set the grate in and shake a bit, dry it off and go. but in reality, I would have been stuck still dealing with the 'low quality' stuff anyways. I wish the growers would have invested in one of these. Dealing with big plump buds is no problem, even fun, but the damn lower buds, popcorn and larfy crap just takes so much time. I used to help out two growers who usually ran 20-30 plants each - I had my share of 10-12 hour days for 5-6 days running trimming - it gets old after the first 3 hours. Either way, you'll probably be stuck going over again once its dry to get the crows feet and wizard sticks if you want primo looking buds.īe sure to update, I'm curious to hear how it works and what you find is the best way. It kinda sucks that by doing that, you're forced to cut the buds from the branches, so getting a slow (proper) dry is more difficult, but when you're dealing with large volumes, you have to compromise somewhere. Chop and run in smaller batches so the leaves don't get too limp - god how I hated people that would chop lots of branches and the leaves would get limp before you could get to trimming - it made it soooo much harder and tedious to trim. It will get gooey, but the time savings will be significant. My guess for the most effective and time/labor savings use would be to strip all fans and non 'frosty' leaves from the buds and run them before the bud leaves get droopy. Running 'larfy' buds is basically a waste of time since it will just chew them up. If you're running dry bud, they have a tendency to break up the bud and knock crystal off, and don't do a very good job of removing the curled leaves. What I've heard is that they work more efficiently and do a better job when the buds are wet - saving ALOT of trimming time - but the down side is that they gum up pretty bad and cleaning is a bitch. I think it comes down to you have to pick the 'right window' to use it effectively. I've heard good and bad about these machines.
